With Christmas day just one month away, there's no better time than the present to begin preparing your home for the festive period. While many homeowners leave their preparations until the last minute, it's best to be organised, rather than get caught up in the Christmas rush just a few days before the big day.
Of course, putting up a Christmas tree is the most traditional - not to mention, obvious - way to get your home ready for the festive season, but there are a plethora of other ways in which you can do so.
If you're looking for festive decor inspiration, here are a few ideas:
With winter creeping closer and the temperatures outdoors already beginning to drop, it's a good idea to add a few cosy furnishings to your home. A fluffy rug, for example, will instantly make any room look warm and inviting, as well as being perfectly on-trend with the frosty season.
Likewise, fluffy cushions and fleece-lined throws are great decorative touches, injecting life and personality into your home. Place these on sofas, window seats and armchairs, matching the colour palette to the rest of your decor.
By getting your homeware winter-ready, you can wrap yourself up in a comfy throw as you open your presents on Christmas morning.
Aside from your Christmas tree, decorate your home with other festive touches. A wreath adorned with holly and glittering acorns hung on your front door will certainly set your home apart from your neighbours', while a twinkling candelabra placed in the centre of your windowsill or dining table will brighten up the room.
What's more, baubles can be used in a variety of ways, rather than simply being hung on the tree; you could make a centrepiece by filling a glass dish or vase with your favourite baubles and place it on top of your coffee table.
If you have a fireplace, this is another fixture of your home that can be transformed into a festive feature. Place Christmas-inspired ornaments across the mantelpiece or hang a fireplace wreath across the top, dressed in sparkling light and glass baubles. This will no doubt help to draw the eye and instantly add warmth to your room.
Metallics and Christmas decor go hand in hand, so to create an eye-catching effect, add small metallic details throughout your home. Brass, gold and chrome work to convey a sense of luxury and elegance, be it through accessories such as candleholders, vases or a wrought-iron lampstand.
No matter how you choose to decorate your home this Christmas, your home is sure to be filled with festive spirit.
