Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) was born in Nancy, France and was one of the greatest French designers of that time. He came from an artistic home as his father Victor Prouvé was part of an art collective himself and was a founding member of the Art Nouveau School of Nancy. Jean Prouvé trained as a metal artisan before opening his own workshop in 1923, and his knowledge of metal formed a basis for his career. He came up with many stylish and creative furniture designs over the years. Since his death in 1984, he has become a legendary figure and his future and architectural elements are still highly recognised today and sought after.
